Dangote refinery launches free fuel distribution in Abuja, five states

Dangote Petroleum Refinery has expanded its fuel distribution strategy by offering free delivery of Premium Motor Spirit to customers in Abuja and five other states, while leaving its ex depot price unchanged at N1,075 per litre.

The refinery disclosed the development in a statement posted on its official X page on Wednesday, saying the initiative applies to Lagos, Ogun, Rivers, Kaduna and Delta states, in addition to the Federal Capital Territory.

The company said only customers ordering a minimum of 250,000 litres of petrol will qualify for the free haulage service.

The new distribution package follows recent talks between the refinery and stakeholders in the downstream oil sector on fuel pricing. At the end of the meeting, industry players reportedly supported moves aimed at achieving further reductions in petrol prices.

The announcement also comes on the heels of the refinery’s latest downward review of its gantry price, the fourth such cut in recent months, which fixed the ex depot price at N1,075 per litre.

Separately, the President of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, Abubakar Maigandi, said motorists have begun to benefit from lower fuel prices, revealing that petrol has become cheaper by about N125 per litre in the last three weeks. He added that retail prices currently vary between N1,155 and N1,299 per litre, depending on the location and the filling station.
