The Gombe State Police Command has arrested a suspected armed robber, detained two alleged housebreakers found with 39 master keys, and recovered a stolen vehicle in separate operations across the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, disclosed the developments on Wednesday while briefing journalists on the command’s recent operations.

According to Abdullahi, one Micah Nuhu was arrested for allegedly attacking a woman, identified as Mama Kingsley Joseph, with a pestle before stealing her purse, which was later recovered by the police.

The victim was taken to Cottage Hospital, Bambam, for treatment, while the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.

He added that efforts are ongoing to arrest an alleged accomplice, identified as Mubarak, who is currently at large.

In a separate operation, police arrested two suspects, Nasiru Aminu, 40, and Jamiu Muhammad, 33, at a suspected criminal hideout in the Tumfure area of Akko Local Government Area.

The suspects were allegedly found in possession of 39 master keys and a screwdriver believed to have been used for housebreaking.

“The suspects are in custody and investigation is ongoing to determine their involvement in other criminal activities,” Abdullahi said.

The command also recovered a Toyota Yaris allegedly stolen after its owner, Sani Ahmed, was attacked by suspected criminals.

According to the police, the assailants allegedly stabbed Ahmed and pushed him out of the vehicle near Tumu-Kashere Junction before fleeing with the car.

The victim was rushed to the Specialist Hospital for treatment, while the abandoned vehicle was later recovered near the Army Barracks and secured at the police station.

Police said the SCID has commenced an investigation into the incident and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to tackling crime and protecting lives and property across the state.
