Popular Nigerian singer Abiola Akinbiyi, better known as Bella Shmurda, has alleged that he was defrauded after paying $4 million for a property in Lagos.
The singer claimed he later discovered he had been scammed and that the property did not belong to the individual who sold it to him.
Bella Shmurda made the allegation during an emotional Instagram Live session on Tuesday, where he broke down in tears while appealing for help.
Speaking during the livestream, the singer said he was heartbroken by the incident and worried about losing the money he had worked hard to earn.
“Nigeria, I need your help. I’m not doing okay right now. I spent $4 million of my own hard-earned money, only to find out I bought stolen property,” he said.
The singer alleged that the individual who sold him the property had disappeared after receiving the payment.
“And now the seller has disappeared. Please, help me. Someone step in. I’ve got nothing left,” he said.
“I worked for years for this. I can’t lose $4 million like that.”
The singer, however, stated that he had contacted his lawyer to investigate the matter.
“I just contacted my lawyer for further investigation,” he said.
Bella Shmurda did not reveal the identity of the person who sold him the property or provide additional details about the transaction during the livestream.
The allegations have not been independently verified, and neither law enforcement authorities nor any individual linked to the transaction has issued an official response.
