The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) has advised the public, particularly residents of Kaduna, that it will hold an inter-company obstacle crossing competition for Short Service Cadets on Saturday at its Afaka training facility.
In a statement issued on Friday, the Academy’s Public Relations Officer, Maj. Reuben Kovangiya, said the exercise forms part of the institution’s routine military training and will run from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. He explained that the day-and-night exercise is intended to assess the cadets’ ability to navigate obstacles in simulated combat situations.
Kovangiya noted that the training will involve the use of explosive blasts and urged residents not to be alarmed. He added that the exercise will be confined to the NDA Afaka area and advised people living in Mando, Tsamiya, Kauya and Afaka to be aware of the scheduled activity, assuring them that adequate safety measures have been put in place to ensure the exercise is conducted safely.
He also solicited the cooperation of members of the public and the media in disseminating the information.
