Adeleke declares public holiday for PVC collection ahead of Osun poll

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has declared Tuesday, July 28, 2026, a public holiday to enable civil servants and other public workers to collect their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) ahead of the forthcoming governorship election.

The governor announced the work-free day in a statement issued on Monday by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, saying the decision would allow eligible public servants to participate in the ongoing PVC collection exercise before it closes.

According to the statement, the directive was conveyed through a circular across the state’s public service to encourage workers to fulfil their civic responsibility ahead of the governorship election and future polls.

The circular, however, exempted workers on essential duties, including medical personnel and security officers, advising them to make internal arrangements to ensure uninterrupted service delivery.

Governor Adeleke also urged public servants and other eligible residents in the informal sector to collect their voter cards without delay, stressing the importance of the upcoming election to the future of the state.

“I encourage all registered voters to reach all the collection points without delay. Your vote is your power. Your voter’s card is your licence to the ballot paper and, by extension, to the ballot box,” the statement added.
