The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, met with former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Wednesday as political consultations ahead of the 2027 general election continue.
Esther Umoh, Obi’s campaign photographer, shared photographs of the meeting on X but did not reveal the location or the issues discussed by the two politicians.
“Earlier today, the presidential candidate of the NDC, Peter Obi, met with former president Olusegun Obasanjo,” Umoh wrote.
The meeting took place just days after former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), accused Obasanjo of making false allegations against him to advance the political interests of his kinsman ahead of the 2027 general election.
Although Atiku did not identify the individual, President Bola Tinubu, who is seeking a second term in office, is of Yoruba origin, the same ethnic group as Obasanjo.
On January 23, Obasanjo alleged that Atiku gave the late former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ghali Umar Na’Abba, ₦5 million to initiate impeachment proceedings against him during his first term as president.
The allegation triggered a fresh exchange of accusations between the two political figures.
