Former Nigeria U-20 women’s national team striker Flourish Sabastine has completed a move to Portuguese women’s league champions Benfica on a contract that will keep her at the club until 2029.
Benfica announced the signing on Monday through a video shared on the club’s official X handle.
Sabastine joins the Portuguese giants from Turkish side Fenerbahce, where she spent one season and delivered an impressive performance, scoring 12 goals in 25 appearances.
During her time with Fenerbahce, the 21-year-old forward played a key role in helping the club secure the league title.
The former Falconets star was part of Nigeria’s squad at the 2022 and 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup tournaments, where she gained valuable international experience.
She made her Super Falcons debut on October 6, 2022, featuring in a friendly match against Japan after replacing Uchenna Kanu for the final nine minutes of the encounter, which Nigeria lost 2-0.
Founded on December 12, 2017, Benfica’s women’s team has established itself as a dominant force in Portuguese football, winning six consecutive First Division titles, one Second Division title, three Portuguese Cups, five League Cups — a record achievement — and three Super Cups.
