The family of Nollywood actress Tope Osoba has dismissed reports circulating about the circumstances surrounding her death.

The actress reportedly passed away on Tuesday evening, shortly after speaking with some of her colleagues over the phone and sharing “Ogo Tuntun”, meaning new glory, on her WhatsApp status at about 7:23 pm.

Her death occurred nearly two years after she appealed to the public for financial support towards her breast cancer surgery and treatment.

Reports had linked the actress’ death to her previous battle with cancer.

However, in an official statement shared on the actress’ Instagram page on Thursday, her family dismissed the reports, stating that she did not die from cancer.

Although the family did not reveal the actual cause of her sudden death, it said, “We are deeply saddened by the spread of false and unverified reports concerning the passing of our beloved.

“At this difficult time, we wish to categorically state that the numerous claims circulating on social media and various blogs regarding the circumstances surrounding her death are false, speculative, and entirely unauthorized.”

While urging the public “to refrain from sharing or promoting misinformation that only adds to the pain our family is already enduring”, the family stated that further updates would be shared through the actress’ official page.
