Voting was reportedly disrupted on Saturday at the polling unit of former Osun State Governor and immediate past Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, following an alleged invasion by suspected thugs.
The incident reportedly caused some voters to leave the polling unit, temporarily halting the voting process and creating tension in the area.
The development occurred amid the ongoing Osun State governorship election, with concerns over the safety of voters and the smooth conduct of the exercise at the affected location.
Some party agents at the polling unit alleged that the suspected thugs were affiliated with the All Progressives Congress (APC).
However, the APC agent at the polling unit, Mrs Abogunloko Olufunke, dismissed the claim, saying the individuals were neither known to her nor affiliated with the party.
“Those thugs are not our members. I don’t know them,” she said.
The circumstances surrounding the disruption remained unclear as of the time of filing this report, while details of any arrests or intervention by security personnel were yet to emerge.
