The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has approved 23 additional programmes for Federal Polytechnic, Ukana, in Essien Udim Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
A statement from the institution’s media unit in Uyo on Tuesday said the approval increased the number of programmes offered by the polytechnic from 21 to 44.
The statement said the approval was contained in a letter signed by the Director, Polytechnic and Allied Programmes, Ayo Aroge, on behalf of the Executive Secretary of the board.
It added that the newly approved programmes would initially run for two years and commence in the 2026/2027 academic session.
The institution described the approval as another indication of the visionary leadership of its Rector, Mrs Edumma Essien.
However, it noted that the programmes would be due for full accreditation following another quality assurance visit scheduled for the end of September 2028.
