Oyo declares Thursday public holiday for 2026 Isese day

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has declared Thursday, August 20, a work-free day to mark Isese Day, an annual celebration of the Yoruba people’s cultural and traditional heritage.

The declaration was contained in a memo signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Musibau Babatunde, and made public through a statement issued by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Dr Sulaimon Olanrewaju, in Ibadan on Wednesday.

The governor congratulated adherents of African Traditional Religion in Oyo State, across Nigeria and beyond, while wishing them a successful and spiritually fulfilling celebration.
