Nigerian music executive and singer Michael Ajereh, popularly known as Don Jazzy, has praised Afrobeats star Ayra Starr, saying the singer has had a transformative impact on his life.
The Mavin Records founder made the comment on X on Thursday while responding to a fan who commended his contribution to Ayra Starr’s successful music career.
Don Jazzy revealed that Ayra Starr had also made a significant difference in his own life, recalling that he discovered her through an Instagram freestyle.
“She has most definitely changed my own life too. I bless the day I was shown her Instagram freestyle o. And she has been nothing but a dream Starrgirl,” he wrote.
Don Jazzy discovered Ayra Starr through her social media freestyles before signing her to Mavin Records.
Since joining the label, Ayra Starr has grown into one of Afrobeats’ prominent voices, gaining international recognition through her music and collaborations with artistes around the world.
The singer released her third studio album, Starrgirl, on August 14.
The 16-track project features Nigerian artistes Wizkid and Rema, alongside international acts such as ZAYN, Leon Thomas, kwn, Theodora and Danny Ocean.
Wizkid appears on “Gimme Dat”, while Rema features on “Who’s Dat Girl”.
Don Jazzy’s latest remarks highlight the mutual influence between the music executive and Ayra Starr, whose career received significant backing following her discovery and signing to Mavin Records.
