Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has engaged in a playful exchange with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, following the outcome of the 2026 Osun State governorship election.

Davido made the remarks during a visit by his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, to Wike in Abuja on Thursday.

A video of the encounter, shared on Instagram by @OfficialPrinceNwauzor on Friday, captured the singer jokingly claiming victory over Wike’s political camp.

In the video, Davido, dressed in brown traditional attire, repeatedly told the minister, “I won. I beat you guys.”

Wike, appearing amused by the singer’s comments, responded, “No, no.”

Davido maintained his position, saying, “I won! I beat you.”

“You beat us?” Wike asked.

“I beat you,” the singer replied.

The exchange drew laughter from those in the room, with some people heard in the background saying, “I beg o.”

Davido later prostrated before Wike and embraced him, while those present applauded and laughed.

The light-hearted banter came against the backdrop of the August 15 Osun governorship election, in which Adeleke defeated the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, to retain his position as governor.

The Independent National Electoral Commission declared Adeleke the winner with 511,067 votes, while Oyebamiji secured 444,815 votes.

Adeleke won in 19 of the state’s 30 local government areas, while Oyebamiji won the remaining 11.

Before meeting Wike, Adeleke had visited President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja to present his certificate of return.
