The Nigerian naira is trading at about ₦1,349.06 to the US dollar on Friday, August 21, 2026, according to the latest available live USD/NGN rate.
At the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NFEM), the dollar was last quoted at approximately ₦1,344.45 based on Thursday’s official-market indication. The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) explains that the NFEM rate is calculated using a volume-weighted average of transactions and serves as the official exchange rate for the day.
The latest live USD/NGN indication places the dollar at around ₦1,349.06 in the early hours of Friday, showing that the naira remains within the ₦1,300 range against the US currency.
In the parallel market, the dollar is selling for approximately ₦1,405 on Friday, according to the latest Aboki Forex indication. The platform’s August 21 quotation puts the black-market selling rate at ₦1,405 per dollar.
This means the parallel-market rate is about ₦56 higher than the latest live rate of ₦1,349.06. Compared with the confirmed NFEM rate of ₦1,344.45, the difference is roughly ₦60 per dollar.
The naira has recorded relative strength in the official market in recent trading sessions. It appreciated to ₦1,343.32 per dollar on August 18, with market reports linking the improvement partly to increased dollar liquidity.
The currency has also remained relatively stable in the parallel market. The dollar moved from around ₦1,410 on August 19 to approximately ₦1,404 on August 20 before settling around ₦1,405 on Friday.
For Nigerians requiring foreign currency for international travel, school fees, imports, subscriptions, remittances and other transactions, the actual exchange rate may vary depending on the bank, Bureau de Change operator, location and size of the transaction.
The dollar-to-naira rate remains subject to changes throughout the day as demand, supply and liquidity conditions continue to influence both the official and parallel markets.
