Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has appealed to residents to set aside the disagreements that followed the governorship election and join forces to move the state forward.
The governor made the call in a statement posted on his X account on Friday, after securing another term in Saturday’s governorship election.
Adeleke thanked Osun residents for entrusting him with another mandate, saying the outcome of the poll represented a shared victory for the people.
“My dear people of Osun State, I am deeply humbled and grateful for the confidence you have reposed in me by re-electing me as your Governor,” Adeleke said.
He appreciated traditional rulers, religious figures, community leaders, workers, pensioners, youths, women, artisans, traders, farmers and other residents who participated in the election and backed his administration.
The governor said the election result demonstrated the decision of the electorate to allow his government to continue.
“This victory belongs to all of us, and I accept this renewed mandate with humility and a deep sense of responsibility,” he said.
He also offered condolences to families who lost loved ones during incidents of electoral violence recorded before the poll.
“As we celebrate, we also remember the victims of electoral violence before the election. My heartfelt condolences go to their families and loved ones. May Almighty God grant the departed eternal rest and comfort those they left behind,” he said.
Adeleke called on the people to move beyond the political differences created by the election and concentrate on the development of Osun.
“Together, let us heal, unite and continue building a greater Osun,” he added.
