Candidates who sat for the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination can now access their certificates digitally, according to the West African Examinations Council.

WAEC announced on Friday that certificates for the 2026 WASSCE for School Candidates had been uploaded to its Digital Certificate Platform.

The examination body said, “The 2026 WASSCE for School candidate Certificate is now available for access on the WAEC Digital Certificate Platform.”

Candidates can retrieve their certificates through the official WAEC website https://www.waec.org/ or the WAEC Digital Certificate mobile app. The documents can be viewed, downloaded and shared when needed.

The platform offers two services. Certificate Access is designed for candidates who want to retrieve their documents, while Certificate Confirmation allows organisations and institutions to authenticate certificates.

How to download your 2026 WAEC certificate

Candidates can follow these steps:

  1. Go to the official WAEC website and open the Digital Certificate Platform.
  2. Click on Certificate Access.
  3. Enter the requested examination and personal identification details.
  4. Complete the verification stage, including OTP verification where necessary.
  5. Open the certificate and download it.
  6. Keep a copy safely or send it to an institution when required.

WAEC also advised candidates to use its official digital certificate application on the Google Play Store.

The digital certificate service should not be confused with the separate WAEC result-checking portal, which is used to view examination results.

The announcement follows the release of the 2026 WASSCE results. WAEC reported that 1,950,726 candidates took part in the examination, while 1,200,514 candidates, representing 61.54 per cent, secured credits in five or more subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.

The examination was held between April 21 and June 19, 2026, across more than 24,200 secondary schools.
