Tyson Fury-Anthony Joshua fight signed – Hearn

The highly anticipated Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua showdown has been signed and will proceed, according to Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn.

Fury had raised doubts about the long-awaited all-British clash on Friday, but Hearn maintained that both camps are contractually committed to the bout.

“We’ve signed the contract, we’re waiting for a date,” Hearn told DAZN on Sunday.

Hearn also stressed that neither boxer could simply walk away from the agreement.

“The fight’s signed. No-one can pull out of the fight. You can’t just pull out of a contract,” he said.

The major issue yet to be settled is the location of the fight.

The bout was initially expected to take place in the United Kingdom in November, but Saudi organisers Sela are pushing for the event to be held in the United States.

Joshua and Fury have separate agreements with Sela, with New York’s Madison Square Garden reportedly one of the preferred venues. The fight is also expected to be shown on Netflix.

Hearn revealed that Joshua’s camp would rather stage the fight in Britain, although a move to the US could be considered if suitable terms are offered.

“We know everybody and his dog involved in the fight wants to do the fight in America. We don’t,” Hearn said.

He added that talks with Sela were still ongoing and insisted there was no threat to the fight itself.

“We’ve told Sela and the team, ‘If you want to do it in America, these are the terms that we can move forward with. But we’d rather not please,’” he said.

Fury and Joshua remain on course for one of the biggest bouts in British boxing history, with the venue and date now the only major details left to finalise.
