Nollywood actress Lilian Esoro is mourning the death of her father, who she said passed away unexpectedly a few weeks ago.
The actress shared the sad news on Instagram on Sunday, posting a picture of her late father and opening up about the pain of losing him.
Esoro described her father as a deeply important figure in her life and her only surviving parent, noting that his death came after she had already experienced the loss of a close friend.
She wrote, “A man who was an integral part of my life—the man who led me to Christ, my only living parent, my Dad—passed away suddenly.”
Speaking about how she has been coping, the actress said she had kept herself occupied with work, social activities and event planning since her father’s death.
However, she admitted that keeping busy had not taken away the pain.
“This kind of grief is different. It is heart-wrenching and almost impossible to explain. Some days, I am genuinely happy. Other days, a wave of sadness hits me so suddenly and so deeply that I almost don’t know what to do with it or how to react.”
Despite the difficult period, Esoro said her faith remained a source of strength and comfort.
“It is well with my soul. God is still God! With him there is no controversy.”
She also appreciated her family and friends for their prayers, love and support as she navigates the painful period.
Following the announcement, several colleagues and friends took to the comment section to sympathise with the actress.
Nancy Isime wrote, “Sending you lots of love as you navigate through this difficult time Lili.”
Shafii Bello also said, “Please accept my condolences my darling Lilian. May God comfort you.”
Chioma Akpotha added, “So sorry for your loss my dear Lilian.”
Uzor Arukwe also wrote, “Lily, please accept my deepest condolences.”
