The Chairman of Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State, Hashimu Dantudu, says the security situation in the area has improved considerably following the deployment of armoured vehicles purchased by the state government.
Dantudu made this known on Sunday in Tsamaye Village, Sabon Birni LGA, during a condolence visit by a state government delegation led by the State APC Leader, Senator Aliyu Wamakko, over the death of the local government APC Chairman, Alhaji Amadu Malale.
According to the council chairman, the arrival of the armoured vehicles has helped reduce attacks and strengthened the presence of security personnel across the area.
“Cases of attacks have reduced tremendously since the deployment of the armoured vehicles in the area,” Dantudu said.
He praised Governor Ahmed Aliyu for procuring and deploying the vehicles, describing the move as a significant boost to efforts to tackle banditry across Sokoto State.
“We are indeed witnessing the presence of security personnel in our area more than before,” he said.
Dantudu expressed confidence that continued government efforts to improve security would eventually lead to an end to banditry in the area.
He also pledged the council’s continued cooperation with security agencies in combating banditry and other criminal activities.
Sabon Birni is one of several Sokoto LGAs that have experienced persistent attacks by bandits.
As part of its security response, the state government recently acquired 62 armoured vehicles and 2,000 motorcycles for distribution to security agencies to support operations against bandits and other criminals across the state.
