The wife of Delta State content creator Ifeanyi Ogbonna, popularly known as Odogwu of Asaba, has defended her husband against an allegation that he raped 20-year-old Favour Agbro, claiming that the two only had an affair.

The woman, whose identity was not disclosed, made the claim in a video shared on Ogbonna’s social media page on Wednesday, while insisting that she would continue to support her husband.

Ogbonna, 40, was arrested by the Delta State Police Command following the allegation involving Favour, who later died after reportedly ingesting a toxic substance.

According to the police, Ogbonna allegedly invited Favour to Asaba on the pretext of teaching her content creation before taking her to a hotel, where he allegedly raped and physically assaulted her.

However, Ogbonna’s wife denied the rape allegation in the video.

“Odogwu Asaba did not kill anybody. I know my husband…. Odogwu Asaba did not rape Favour. Odogwu Asaba only had an affair with the girl,” she said.

She further maintained that her husband had never raped anyone.

“He cannot rape, he has never. Even when he did not have fame, he did not rape anybody, is it now?”

The woman said she had been closely following the case and decided to speak after gaining a better understanding of the circumstances surrounding it.

“I am trying to follow the matter the right way; I have not been silent. I want to let you people know that no matter what happened, he is my husband and I stand with him 100%. I’m not going to turn my back on him,” she said.

She also cautioned against allowing social media narratives to determine the outcome of the case, stressing that the matter should be handled through the legal system.

“How I feel, what I feel, how I see it is my personal decision. Everything is not actually the way they presented it. Before I could come out to talk, I have learnt a lot about this matter. Social media is not a courtroom. You people should bear that in mind,” she said.

The woman acknowledged Favour’s death, saying it was among the reasons she had chosen to approach the situation carefully.

“Yes, someone has died and that is why we are taking it easy. But Odogwu Asaba did not kill anybody,” she said.

She added that her husband would have an opportunity to present his side of the story when the time comes.

The woman also disclosed that she and Ogbonna had been married for eight years and have four children.

The police had earlier stated that Favour travelled to Asaba on June 1, 2026, after Ogbonna allegedly offered to teach her how to monetise her TikTok and Facebook accounts through content creation.

The police said Favour later returned home distressed and told her parents about the alleged incident before recording a video detailing her experience.

She subsequently ingested a toxic substance and died while receiving treatment.

According to the police, Ogbonna’s arrest followed a petition submitted by Favour’s family, while investigations into the matter remain ongoing.

The command had also said the content creator would be charged to court.

Ogbonna has not been convicted of any offence, and the allegation against him remains subject to investigation and determination through due legal process.
