[TRENDING VIDEO] “After three years of saving in Dubai, i returned home to find ₦0 in my account” — Woman
Access Bank is facing criticism online after a woman who reportedly worked as a cleaner in Dubai and saved money with the bank between 2022 and 2025 allegedly returned to Nigeria to discover that her account balance had been reduced to ₦0.00.
According to reports circulating online, the woman’s account was blocked from withdrawals in 2023. She subsequently decided to keep the account solely for savings.
She reportedly continued sending emails to the bank, requesting that her account details be updated with her Dubai phone number and email address so she could regain access. She said she submitted all the documents requested by the bank, but her access was allegedly not restored.
After returning to Nigeria this week, she visited an Access Bank branch to upgrade her account. Although the upgrade was reportedly completed successfully, she was shocked to discover that the money she had saved was no longer in the account.
She allegedly discovered that ₦20,000 deductions had been made from the account at intervals since October 2025, despite the account previously being restricted from withdrawals.
The bank reportedly provided her with the details of an Opay and Moniepoint account linked to a beneficiary and advised her to present the information to the police for investigation.
However, the woman said she could not afford to pursue the matter through the police because of the financial burden involved.
The incident has since sparked renewed discussions online, with some Nigerians sharing similar experiences they claim to have had with Access Bank.
One person alleged that they left ₦150,000 in an Access Bank account in 2018 and returned to Nigeria in 2025, only to discover that the account had been emptied.
According to the person, Access Bank allegedly explained that the ₦150,000 had been consumed by “bank charges” deductions.
The reports have generated calls for greater transparency in bank deductions and quicker resolution of customers’ complaints over unexplained transactions.

1. @Kelechi: “My sis left 150k in her Diamond bank(now access) in 2018 and travelled. She went to check this year, it was 0 balance. They really told her its for charges.”

“It’s only in Nigeria you’ll see these things.”3. @TheEnigma
“Few years ago VDM took up a case in this same Access Bank, the sister of a deceased man couldn’t find a kobo in an account her brother deposited millions into.
Access is fast becoming a criminal organization and no one is talking.”4. @Solomon Terese
“From doctors advising you for surgery when normal treatment would serve, to Banks obviously dormant accounts to steal from.
From telecom companies siphoning your data inappropriately so you buy more, to NEPA billing like you’re a Band A user when you are in Band C.
The list goes on…”5. @SolomonTerese
“The real villain here is the Telecom company. Recycling people’s lines without thoroughly checking BVN/NIN links is a massive security breach. Telcos are ruining lives faster than Yahoo boys.”6. @hoh “Access bank is the last bank I can ever bank with. What they did to me during my internship, 200, 300, 500, 1000 etc., until I got mad and stormed the bank.
There was no single explanation, by the next day, they started refunding the money to me.”7. @IProfitOlukes…“Tell this girl to go to CBN and report. Access bank won’t answer her on time. It happened to someone close to me that reported an issue with GTB when someone used her account to collect loan and GTB said they couldn’t do anything and even Anti Fraud personnel they moved. GTB paid her back in full. When CBN was involved, GTB paid her back in full. These guys are criminals.”
8. @Umeh “If you don’t use your line for 6 months it will be deactivated. Even if you travel abroad and you use the number to make WhatsApp calls, it won’t save you. Given how NIN and BVN is linked to numbers, I don’t know why they’re always in a hurry to reassign your number.”

“Same thing happened to me this year. I have 200k in my @access_more bank account, I woke up one day I realize nothing was inside. Contacted @myaccessbank but they can’t do anything.”10. @PrinceAde…
“I have close doing business with that bank and I have moved on.
Tbh. I don’t know this lady but Access Bank is fraudulent. They have thieves working for them. A friend of mine opened an account there last year, she went to open an account there, her account number was sent to her. She put in money and all of a sudden, she started getting OTPs and money was moved. She had to close the account by her ATM card. She went back to the branch and they started dribbling her. Branch manager was nonchalant. It took months for them to refund her.”11. @Blackjoe
“Access bank have insiders that are running the deals, over 83k was removed in my access account in October 2025. I don’t use the ATM card for any transactions, I removed the 3 pin at the back of the card on the first day I collected it, so tell me how someone will remove my money without an insider.”12. @TheProfessional…
“I mistakenly transferred some funds to an @myaccessbank for years now and up till now it hasn’t been reversed despite several letters. I won’t touch the bank if that was the only bank left.”13. @MRSHOCKS
