Nollywood actor and filmmaker Femi Adebayo has announced plans to produce a sequel to his directorial debut, ‘Seven Doors’.
Adebayo released the six-part miniseries in December 2024, and the project went on to receive several nominations and wins at major Nollywood awards, including the Best of Nollywood (BON) Awards and Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).
Speaking on VJ Adams Live about his approach to filmmaking, Adebayo explained that he revisits his previous projects when preparing to work on new ones.
He said he is currently rewatching ‘Seven Doors’ as he prepares for its sequel, adding that he also studies both positive and negative reactions from viewers to determine areas where he can improve.
“I watch my movies after they’ve been released, especially when I want to produce another one. For instance, before I produced the sequel to ‘Jagun Jagun’, I watched the original, same as ‘Ageshinkole’. Now I’m planning to do a sequel to ‘Seven Doors’, so I keep watching the original to do better,” he said.
“I also go to read people’s comments, good or bad, on my movies because it helps me decide what to do better.”
In 2025, ‘Seven Doors’ recorded major success at the AMVCA, where it won the ‘Best Lead Actress’ and ‘Best Lead Actor’ categories.
The same year, the series also secured four awards at the BON Awards, winning ‘Best Production Design’, ‘Best Special Effect’, ‘Best Series’ and ‘Best Cinematography’.
