Troops of the Joint Task Force North East, Operation Hadin Kai, have neutralised a suspected Boko Haram terrorist and recovered arms and ammunition during an operation in Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State.
The operation was conducted on Monday, September 1, 2026, in the Lamusuri general area, according to the Acting Military Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North East, Captain Mohammed Goni.
Goni said in a statement that troops of 120 Task Force Battalion under Sector 2, working with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force, acted on credible intelligence to conduct an operation along a suspected terrorist route in the area.
“At about 11:00 am on 1 September 2026, troops of 120 Task Force Battalion under Sector 2, in conjunction with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force, acting on credible intelligence, conducted an operation along a suspected terrorist route within the area,” he said.
According to the military, troops encountered a group of Boko Haram terrorists moving along the identified route and engaged them.
“A firefight ensued, during which one terrorist was neutralised, while others fled the area with suspected gunshot wounds,” Goni added.
Following the engagement, the troops conducted an exploitation of the area and recovered one AK-47 rifle, three magazines, 90 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition and one body pouch.
The military said the operation demonstrated the effectiveness of sustained intelligence-led operations and continued cooperation between troops and local security stakeholders.
Goni added that such collaboration remained important in identifying and disrupting terrorist activities across the North-East Theatre of Operations.
