The All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Yobe State, Baba Wali, has pledged to retain successful policies of the current administration while introducing further measures to improve the lives of residents if elected in 2027.
Wali made the commitment on Saturday during his visit to the Gudi Emirate in Fika Local Government Area as he continued consultations with traditional rulers and other key stakeholders ahead of the governorship election.
He said his seven years of service under Governor Mai Mala Buni had exposed him to the administration’s development plans and given him practical knowledge of the challenges confronting the state.
The candidate thanked Buni for the opportunity to serve in his government, saying the experience had prepared him for the task of leading the state.
“I will be forever grateful to the Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, for allowing me to work in his administration for seven years.
”If I win the election, my administration will continue from where Buni stopped. We will continue with the good works of the present administration and build on the achievements recorded so far for the benefit of the people of Yobe State,” he assured.
Wali also recognised the role played by Ibrahim Geidam, a former governor of the state and the current Minister of Police Affairs, in his career progression.
According to him, Geidam provided valuable support and opportunities during his time in government, which he said he remained appreciative of.
The APC candidate said his visit to the emirate was aimed at securing the prayers and goodwill of Emir Ismaila Gadaka and members of the community ahead of the election.
He equally called on traditional leaders to support the APC and its candidates in the 2027 elections, including President Bola Tinubu.
“We are urging the Emirate of Bade to support us and all the APC candidates,” Wali said.
He added that his experience in government had given him an understanding of the state’s needs and strengthened his ability to provide purposeful leadership.
The monarch, in his response, expressed readiness to support candidates whose leadership would advance the development and welfare of Yobe residents.
