ACAMB climaxes 30th anniversary celebration with Gala/Awards night Sept 30
The Association of Corporate Communication and Marketing Professionals in Banks (ACAMB) has announced that it will hold the grand finale of the series of events marking its 30th anniversary celebrations with a Gala/Awards night on Wednesday, September 30 at Civic Centre, Lagos.
This was revealed by the Association’s president, Jide Sipe at a press conference on Tuesday.

Themed “30 Years of Shaping Narratives and Building Trust”, the anniversary activities had earlier kickstarted in June with tree planting initiatives and Golf & networking experience. According to the ACAMB President, the theme reflects the Association’s contribution to the communication landscape over the past three decades.
“For us, communication goes beyond the transmission of information. It is about creating understanding, influencing perceptions responsibly, strengthening relationships, building trust among the populace and building confidence among our stakeholders. As communication professionals, we recognise that trust remains one of the most valuable assets any organisation can possess. Our 30-year journey has therefore been defined by the continuous effort to promote credible communication, responsible storytelling and meaningful stakeholder engagement.”
Speaking further, Sipe explained that the anniversary is a significant milestone in the history of the Association, providing an opportunity to reflect on its journey, celebrate its achievements, recognise the contributions of its members and stakeholders, and reaffirm its commitment to the future.
“From its modest beginnings, the Association has continued to evolve in response to changing industry dynamics, technological advancement and the growing importance of effective communication in building relationships, managing reputation and fostering trust. Over the years, the Association has implemented several initiatives aimed at promoting professional development, knowledge sharing, networking, collaboration and excellence among its members,” Sipe explained.
Highlighting some of the achievements in the Association’s 30-year journey so far, Sipe noted that these include: advancement of professional standards and best practices; capacity-building programs, conferences, seminars and knowledge-sharing sessions; stronger collaboration among professionals and industry stakeholders; development of platforms for networking and mentorship; Advocacy, banking impact mitigation and positive positioning campaigns; contribution to thought leadership within the communications profession; Advancing health, wellness and fitness of members; commitment to environmental sustainability, climate action, and community development; strategic partnerships with relevant institutions, regulators, media organisations and other stakeholders; support for emerging professionals and the next generation of communication practitioners.
Speaking on future plans, the ACAMB boss said the Association will continue to key into emerging technologies especially as the communication landscape continue to evolve. He said the Association will not sacrifice values of professionalism, integrity and credibility in a bid to stay relevant.
“While we celebrate 30 years of achievements, we also recognise that the communication landscape continues to evolve. Emerging technologies, artificial intelligence, digital media, changing stakeholder expectations and the increasing speed of information dissemination are creating new opportunities and challenges for communication professionals. Our commitment going forward is to remain relevant, innovative and responsive while upholding the values of professionalism, integrity, credibility and trust.
The next chapter will focus on strengthening our professional community, deepening stakeholder engagement, embracing innovation and creating greater value for our members, our sector and society.”

Since inception in 1996, the Association has had 10 successive presidents starting with the Late Alhaji Kabir Dangogo who was the first, followed by Waheed Olagunju, Hajiya Lantana Ahmed (first Female President), Lanre Alabi, Eddy Ademosu, Pastor Tunde Sofowora, Lola Odedina, Charles Aigbe, Rasheed Bolarinwa and the incumbent, Jide Sipe.
