Afrobeats star Davido has thrown his support behind the 2027 House of Representatives ambition of human rights lawyer Pelumi Olajengbesi.
Davido, whose real name is David Adeleke, announced his support in an Instagram post on Tuesday.
“My other project, Pelumi Olajengbesi. 100% winning ticket”.
Olajengbesi served as the campaign spokesperson for the re-election of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, Davido’s uncle, during the closely contested August 15, 2026 governorship election.
The Abuja-based lawyer, who represents celebrities including D’banj, Moses Bliss and Mercy Chinwo, is also the convener of the Imole Grassroots Mobilisation Network in Osun State.
Davido had previously acknowledged Olajengbesi’s contribution to the campaign in a post on X following the governor’s re-election.
Olajengbesi is seeking to represent the Oriade-Obokun Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
The legal practitioner, who turned 40 in August, previously contested the seat in 2019.
He is seeking to unseat the incumbent lawmaker, Wole Oke of the All Progressives Congress, who has represented the constituency in the House of Representatives for several years.
Olajengbesi, an Accord Party chieftain, had earlier said the constituency needed stronger youth representation and an end to what he described as the recycling of old ideas.
He also pledged to provide effective representation and pursue initiatives aimed at promoting development across the constituency if elected in the 2027 general elections.
In 2024, Olajengbesi told TheCable Lifestyle that he intended to venture into politics within three years to provide what he described as a voice and vision for the emancipation of the people.
“I see myself in a place where I can supply the voice and the vision for the genuine emancipation of the people. In the next three years, I should be at the top of my practice. I would have gotten the very respectful level as SAN. I am sure I am going to be in politics. I know I will be in politics,” he had said.
