Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma have rescued six kidnapped victims during separate operations in Kaduna and Katsina states.
The Army said the rescues followed fighting patrols conducted on September 17, 2026.
The Media Information Officer of Operation Fansan Yamma, Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, disclosed this in a statement on Friday, adding that three victims were rescued in each state.
In Kaduna State, troops of Sector 1 acted on intelligence about a kidnapping incident in Igabi Local Government Area and encountered suspected terrorists moving some of their victims.
Danja said the terrorists fled after sighting the troops, abandoning the victims.
The rescued victims were identified as Enock Hussaini, Abba Dauda and Kalif Haruna. They were reportedly abducted from Gidan Gulbi Village on September 11.
The Army said the victims were debriefed and subsequently reunited with their families, while troops maintained their presence in the area.
In Katsina State, troops of Sector 2 responded to a distress call over the abduction of civilians along the Dandume-Damari axis in Dandume Local Government Area.
According to Danja, the troops quickly mobilised to the area and engaged the suspected terrorists, forcing them to retreat into nearby bushes and abandon their victims.
The troops pursued the fleeing suspects and rescued three victims identified as Abubakar Abdulkadir, 25; Mansir Idris, 26; and Abubakar Aliyu, 21.
A black Golf vehicle belonging to the victims was also recovered during the operation.
The Army said the latest operations demonstrated the continued efforts of Operation Fansan Yamma to protect civilians, disrupt terrorist activities and restrict the movement of criminal elements across its area of operation.
The Joint Task Force also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest security agency.
