Nigeria’s Flamingos recorded their second victory at the WAFU B U-17 Girls Cup after defeating Ghana’s Black Maidens 4-2 on Friday night.
Akeem Busari’s team made a strong start and established a two-goal lead before half-time, with Oluwakemi Adegbuyi and captain Chidi Harmony finding the net.
Nigeria were reduced to 10 players shortly before the hour mark after Elizabeth Adesuyi received a red card.
Ghana took advantage of the numerical superiority four minutes later, as Seidatu Wahab pulled one goal back for the Black Maidens.
The Flamingos, however, responded by restoring their two-goal cushion when Mary Dunstan capitalised on an error in Ghana’s defence to make it 3-1.
Kaosarat Akanji extended Nigeria’s lead three minutes before full time, while Gloria Ameaa scored Ghana’s second goal in the 90th minute.
Despite playing with 10 players for much of the second half, the Flamingos maintained their advantage to secure a 4-2 victory.
