[TRENDING VIDEO] “They threaten to demolish our houses, forcefully collect our land over APC support” — Edo man alleges
A man has accused Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, and the chairman of a local government area in the state of allegedly intimidating residents who refuse to support the All Progressives Congress.
In a video circulating on social media, the man alleged that residents who declined to support the APC were being threatened with the demolition of their houses or the forceful takeover of their lands.
According to him, the alleged threats were linked to political support for the APC in the area.
He also called out Okpebholo, saying the alleged actions would push some residents who had previously chosen not to campaign against the governor to openly oppose him.
“Anybody not supporting APC in Edo State, the chairman of that local government and D7 Okpebolor threatens to demolish their house or forcefully collect their land,” the man alleged.
He added, “Okpebolor, lots of us that don’t want to campaign against you before, will now start campaigning against you.”
The allegation comes amid ongoing political activities and heightened political tensions in Edo State.
However, the claims made in the video could not be independently verified, and there was no immediate response from Okpebholo or the local government chairman mentioned in the allegation.
Okpebholo, a member of the APC, became governor of Edo State after winning the September 2024 governorship election.
