Why I changed my birthday to November 30 – Peter Okoye

Afrobeats singer Peter Okoye has explained why he now marks his birthday on November 30 instead of his actual birth date, November 18.

The former P-Square member spoke about the decision during an appearance on the Capital XTRA Podcast, saying November 18 had become an uncomfortable day for him over the past 17 years.

Peter attributed the change to the gossip and tension that often surrounded the joint birthday celebrations he previously held with his twin brother, Paul Okoye.

He said some people would visit Paul’s residence during their birthday celebrations to discuss issues concerning him before later coming over to his side.

“I changed my birthday from November 18th to November 30th because for 16-17 years, it’s been the worst day of my life. People go to Paul’s house to gossip about me before coming to my side. I wish I could change it on my documents and passport,” he said.

Peter’s revelation came amid the long-running feud between the twin brothers, who first split in 2017, reunited in 2021, and parted ways again in 2024.
