Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, has appointed Nollywood actresses Rachael Okonkwo and Eucharia Anunobi as special advisers in his administration.
The appointments were announced on Monday by Chidiebere Onyia, the Secretary to the State Government, in a statement.
According to Onyia, Governor Mbah approved the appointment of 101 aides, comprising senior special assistants (SSAs) and special assistants (SAs).
Okonkwo was appointed Senior Special Assistant on Film and Creative Industry Development, while Anunobi was assigned to coordinate women mobilisation in the Enugu North zone.
“The special assistants were assigned responsibilities covering forest protection, market sanitation, health facility maintenance, environmental protection and community development,” the statement reads.
“The responsibilities of the SAs include youth engagement, women mobilisation, public communication, infrastructure monitoring, rural development, technology and innovation, among others.”
Emeka Rollas, former president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), congratulated Okonkwo on her appointment.
Rollas said he was delighted to celebrate Okonkwo on a role she truly deserves, noting that he has followed her Nollywood journey and her dedication to young people and the creative sector.
He expressed confidence that she will bring her wealth of experience, drive and deep knowledge of the industry to the assignment.
He wished her wisdom, strength and success in her new role, urging her to make the state proud.
