Argentina midfielder Enzo has spoken about Lionel Messi’s expected farewell from the national team, urging his teammates and fans to make the most of the remaining time with the captain.
Enzo arrived in Argentina on Wednesday ahead of joining the national team camp and spoke to TyC Sports at the airport about Messi’s upcoming farewell match and the future of head coach Lionel Scaloni.
Reflecting on his return to the national team, Enzo said, “It’s great to be back here. Now I’m going to enjoy my time with my family and the national team. Every time I come back, it feels special, and it’s an honor for me to be part of the national team.”
On Messi’s farewell, he described the moment as emotional, saying, “This is a heartbreaking farewell, but we must cherish this special time we’ve had with Messi. We know the legacy he leaves behind and how important he is to us.”
The midfielder added that Messi has not yet left the national team and called on everyone to enjoy his presence while they still can.
“He’s not gone yet, so we have to enjoy this time to the fullest. The difficult transition period will begin after that.”
Enzo also expressed his desire to see Scaloni continue as Argentina coach beyond his current contract.
“I hope he renews his contract. He is very important to us and the team, and he knows it himself. We don’t need to say anything more.”
