Ghanaian Member of Parliament Francis-Xavier Sosu has collapsed while delivering a speech to students in Accra.
Sosu was speaking to students at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) on Thursday when he appeared to become dizzy, according to a video shared by local media outlet Joy Online.
The lawmaker paused his address and tried to steady himself by holding on to the podium but was unable to continue speaking or remain upright.
A man and a woman then approached the podium from the side of the hall to assist Sosu, who eventually collapsed into their arms as they helped him out of the building.
A statement from Ivan Dzakpasu, Sosu’s chief of staff, said the MP had received the necessary medical attention following the incident.
However, the statement did not disclose details about what happened, the treatment Sosu received or what may have caused him to become unwell.
Dzakpasu urged the public to remain calm and refrain from relying on unverified reports or speculation about the lawmaker’s condition.
