The Lagos State Police Command has shut down a suspected illegal factory allegedly involved in the production of adulterated alcoholic beverages in the Badagry area of the state.
Police also arrested a 48-year-old man, Anaebo Hilary, at the facility located in Yafin, Badagry.
The command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebesi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday.
According to the statement, operatives discovered the suspected factory following information received from members of the public.
The operatives recovered adulterated alcoholic drinks, empty bottles, various wine labels and production utensils allegedly used to produce and package the drinks.
“The operation led to the arrest of Anaebo Emeka Hilary, ‘m’, 48 years, at Yafin, Badagry, Lagos State, where the suspected illegal factory was located,” the statement said.
The command said the factory had been sealed while Hilary was taken into police custody.
It added that the recovered items had been taken to the police station for further investigation.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, commended the operatives for acting on the information and urged residents to continue providing credible information to the police.
The command said members of the public could contact the police through its emergency lines for information on suspected criminal activities.
