Arsenal striker Viktor Gyökeres continued his impressive scoring form for Sweden as Graham Potter’s side maintained their perfect start to the Nations League with a 3-1 victory over Poland.
Benjamin Nygren gave Sweden an early lead in the eighth minute after heading in Victor Lindelöf’s flick-on from a recycled corner.
Poland responded before half-time, with Sebastian Szymański tapping in Nicola Zalewski’s dangerous cross in the 43rd minute to restore parity.
Sweden regained the lead in the 63rd minute when Yasin Ayari curled a shot into the bottom-right corner after getting past Szymański.
Gyökeres then sealed the victory nine minutes later, volleying home at the far post from Patrik Walemark’s well-weighted cross.
The victory gives Sweden two wins from two in Group B4.
Gyökeres Finds Form With Sweden
Gyökeres, who has endured a difficult start to the season with Arsenal, has now scored twice in two Nations League matches for Sweden.
The striker has scored eight goals and provided two assists across his last five Nations League appearances, although he had only two shots against Poland.
Poland had a strong first half and registered 13 shots compared with Sweden’s 12 throughout the match, but were unable to find another goal despite introducing Robert Lewandowski late in the game.
