Middleweight and super-middleweight contender Chris Eubank Jr has offered to step in as a replacement should the proposed blockbuster fight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua fail to go ahead.
Uncertainty has surrounded the proposed Fury-Joshua heavyweight showdown amid reported contractual and promotional disagreements, with Eubank revealing in a social media video that he currently weighs 206 lbs.
In a post directed at the two heavyweight stars, Eubank wrote: “If Fury vs AJ falls through… I’ll stop dieting, put the extra lbs back on & step up to the plate. Let me know boys.”
Eubank has spent his professional career competing at middleweight and super-middleweight, with his highest weight being 168 lbs.
A move up to heavyweight to face either Fury or Joshua would represent Eubank’s first professional fight in the division.
Cruiserweight champion David Benavidez has also been linked with a potential role as a replacement, but Eubank’s unexpected offer has added another twist to the increasingly dramatic build-up surrounding the proposed fight.
