The Kaduna State Government has announced the suspension of activities planned for Nigeria’s 66th Independence Day celebration, which was scheduled to hold on Thursday, October 1.
The suspension took effect from Monday, September 28, according to a public announcement issued by the state government.
The announcement was contained in a statement signed by Ahmed Maiyaki, Commissioner for Information and Culture in Kaduna State.
Maiyaki said the government regretted any inconvenience the decision might cause residents, members of the public and other stakeholders.
He, however, thanked residents and stakeholders for their cooperation, understanding and support following the suspension.
The state government had earlier planned a series of activities in Kaduna to mark Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary on October 1.
