Argentina head coach Lionel Scaloni has said Lionel Messi is expected to join the national team camp on Sunday, following Argentina’s international friendly against Burkina Faso on Saturday.
Scaloni also indicated that Messi would be available to feature in the October 3 fixture if he decides to play.
“Messi is expected to join the camp on Sunday after the game against Burkina Faso,” Scaloni said, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano. “If he wants to play on October 3 too, no problem.”
Messi has already announced his retirement from international football with Argentina.
The 39-year-old is expected to feature for Argentina in an international friendly against Benin on Tuesday at the Estadio Mâs Monumental in Buenos Aires.
The match will serve as a farewell appearance for the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner as he prepares to bid farewell to La Albiceleste.
