Gonçalo Ramos scored the decisive goal as Portugal defeated Norway 2-1 in the Nations League, despite Francisco Conceição’s late dismissal.

Kristoffer Ajer gave Norway the lead in the 36th minute with a superb curled effort into the top-right corner. Portugal responded almost immediately, with João Cancelo levelling two minutes later after meeting Nuno Mendes’ throw-in and firing a first-time strike from the edge of the box.

Norway captain Erling Haaland had a chance to restore the visitors’ advantage early in the second half but dragged his effort wide. He was subsequently substituted in a surprise move.

Portugal eventually completed the comeback in the 79th minute when João Félix set up Ramos, who calmly finished to put Jorge Jesus’ side ahead.

The hosts were reduced to 10 men late on after Conceição received two yellow cards in quick succession for dissent. Despite the numerical disadvantage, Portugal held on to secure all three points.

The victory maintained Portugal’s perfect start to their Nations League Group A4 campaign, with Ramos now having scored three goals during the current international break.

Ramos has also stepped up following Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure from the squad, offering Portugal a potential attacking option for the future.

Portugal’s defence also successfully limited Haaland, who managed three shots but registered only one clear opportunity during the encounter.

Conceição had earlier impressed creatively, creating four chances, but his late dismissal overshadowed an otherwise influential display.

The result leaves Portugal comfortably through to the next round of the Nations League ahead of the November fixtures.
