Police in Bauchi State have arrested a 24-year-old man wanted in connection with the alleged murder of a resident in Karofin Madaki, Bauchi metropolis.
The suspect, identified as Abdulrazak Sale Kundang, popularly known as “Abba Sale Police”, was taken into custody on Monday, October 5, 2026, after police received useful information from a Good Samaritan.
The development was announced on Tuesday by the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib.
Habib said the suspect was allegedly involved in the killing of 46-year-old Rilwanu Dauda of Karofi, who was attacked on July 5, 2026, and reportedly stabbed during the incident.
“The victim was rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi, where he was certified dead by a medical doctor at about 1100hrs of the same day,” the PPRO stated.
After the incident, police launched a search for the fleeing suspects and placed them on their watchlist.
The command also alleged that the suspects had been associated with another politically motivated killing in the same area before they went into hiding.
Giving details of the arrest, Habib said, “Acting on credible intelligence from a Good Samaritan, operatives attached to ‘A’ Division, Township, swung into action and on 5th October, 2026, exactly three months after the heinous crime, successfully arrested the principal suspect, Abdulrazak Sale Kundang.”
Police said the search for the other suspects involved in the case was still ongoing.
The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, commended the officers for their efforts and urged them to ensure that the investigation was properly conducted.
He warned that “no criminal will have a hiding place in Bauchi State.”
The commissioner subsequently directed that the suspect face prosecution after the completion of the investigation.
