Nigeria’s Super Eagles have fallen four places to 30th in the latest FIFA Men’s World Ranking released on Wednesday, October 7, 2026.
The three-time African champions previously ranked 26th globally but dropped following a mixed international window under head coach Eric Chelle.
Nigeria recorded one victory, one draw and one defeat during the period, beating Madagascar 2-1 at home, losing 3-0 to Guinea-Bissau in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and drawing 3-3 with Russia in a friendly on Tuesday.
Continental standings
The decline also affected Nigeria’s position in Africa, with the Super Eagles dropping from fourth to sixth.
Algeria and Côte d’Ivoire moved ahead of Nigeria to occupy fourth and fifth positions respectively.
