The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Imo State has petitioned the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigeria Police Force over an alleged fabricated All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary result circulating on social media, which purportedly identified Senator Rochas Okorocha as the party’s candidate for Imo West Senatorial District.

In separate letters dated October 5 and 8, 2026, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Chukwuemeka Ibeziako, described the disputed document as fraudulent and inconsistent with the report allegedly signed and submitted to INEC’s national headquarters.

According to the REC, the authentic report, dated May 18, 2026, identified and certified Senator Hope Odidika Uzodinma as the winner and duly elected APC candidate for Imo West Senatorial District. However, the disputed document allegedly listed Senator Rochas Okorocha as the winner of the party’s primary election.

INEC said it had attached copies of the authentic report and the disputed document to its petitions as Annexures A and B, respectively. It urged the security agencies to investigate the circumstances surrounding the circulation of the document and take appropriate action.

The commission warned that the alleged conduct could threaten law and order in Imo State and called on the DSS and police to intervene.
