Organisers of The Headies have announced a new date for the 18th edition of the prestigious music awards, rescheduling the ceremony to April 10 and 11, 2027, in Toronto, Canada.
The event was initially scheduled to hold this year but has been postponed to allow for an expanded programme of activities in Nigeria and Canada ahead of the grand finale.
Announcing the development on its official Instagram page, the organisers said the additional activities would continue under the Road to The Headies programme.
“The road to the 18th Headies continues. We’re expanding the programme in Nigeria and Canada ahead of our Toronto finale, now scheduled for April 10 and 11, 2027,” the statement read.
The organisers added that activities planned for the original event period would proceed, with further details to be communicated through their official channels.
They also apologised to guests who had already made travel arrangements, expressing appreciation for their patience and continued support.
“To guests who have already made travel plans and other arrangements, we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience. Thank you for your patience and continued support. Further programme updates and guest information will be shared here,” the statement added.
The 18th edition of The Headies is expected to recognise and celebrate outstanding achievements in African music.
