Burna Boy named among Forbes’ 15 African icons

Global music star Burna Boy has been named among the influential Africans featured on Forbes Africa’s special list marking the publication’s 15th anniversary.

The Grammy-winning singer joins business magnate Aliko Dangote, World Trade Organisation Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and media entrepreneur Mo Abudu as one of the 15 personalities recognised as African Icons.

Forbes said the list celebrates Africans whose contributions are expanding the continent’s influence on the global stage.

According to the magazine, Burna Boy made the cut for his role in projecting African music and culture to a worldwide audience, a feat that has amplified Africa’s cultural footprint internationally.

The inclusion highlights the singer’s continued impact in taking African sound beyond the continent.
