Former senator Iyabo Obasanjo has appointed Gbolahan Macjob, a former journalist with the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), to serve as her spokesperson.
The appointment was confirmed in a statement released by her media office on Monday.
Macjob is expected to oversee communication around the former senator’s public activities, engagements and political positions, drawing on his background in journalism and broadcasting.
The statement highlighted his previous work in broadcast journalism, including contributions to BBC reporting.
The development comes as political activities involving Obasanjo, daughter of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, gather renewed attention.
Iyabo Obasanjo represented Ogun Central in the Senate between 2007 and 2011. She also served as Ogun State Commissioner for Health before moving to the United States to pursue an academic career.
According to the statement, she returned to active politics in 2026.
Beyond journalism, Macjob has experience in filmmaking and is expected to bring his knowledge of the creative industry to efforts aimed at expanding the sector in Ogun Central.
His appointment also reflects the growing role of media professionals in political communication, as public figures seek to strengthen their engagement with audiences through traditional news outlets and digital platforms.
