Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has approved the immediate disengagement of all technical advisers and directors-general of government agencies as his administration concludes preparations for his second-term inauguration.
The affected officials have been directed to submit their handover notes to the Office of the Secretary to the State Government.
The development was announced in a statement issued on Tuesday by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Olayinka Oyebode.
According to the statement, the latest decision completes the disengagement of political appointees serving in the administration, following the dissolution of the State Executive Council barely 24 hours earlier.
“The disengagement, which came barely 24 hours after the dissolution of the State Executive Council, marks the completion of the disengagement process for political appointees serving in the administration, except for a few whose appointments have been retained in view of the nature of their assignments,” the statement read.
Oyebanji expressed appreciation to the affected technical advisers and directors-general for their contributions to his administration and the development of the state.
The governor also acknowledged their support and commitment throughout their time in office, wishing them success in their future endeavours.
The latest move comes as Oyebanji winds down his first term ahead of his inauguration for a second term on October 16.
On September 27, the governor had dissolved the boards of commissions and parastatals and terminated the appointments of political aides. However, technical advisers and directors-general were initially excluded from that exercise.
Their disengagement now marks another phase in the administration’s transition ahead of the commencement of Oyebanji’s second term.
