The prominent leader of pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, Pa Reuben Famuyide Fasoranti, has died.
His death was confirmed in Akure on Tuesday.
Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, announced his passing in a condolence statement issued on behalf of the state government.
Aiyedatiwa described Fasoranti as a patriarch and a beacon of wisdom, integrity and selfless service, noting that he dedicated his life to the development of Ondo State, Yorubaland and Nigeria.
The governor said Fasoranti’s counsel, fatherly guidance and principled positions on justice and good governance would be sorely missed.
He said the late Afenifere leader left behind a lasting legacy of integrity and service that would continue to inspire future generations.
Aiyedatiwa expressed his condolences to the Fasoranti family, the people of Akure Kingdom and residents of Ondo State over the loss.
“On behalf of the Government and the good people of Ondo State, I commiserate with the Fasoranti family, the people of Akure Kingdom and the entire State over this great loss,” the governor said.
He also prayed for the peaceful repose of the deceased’s soul.
