The national youth leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dayo Israel, has drawn widespread criticism on social media after announcing that he presented brand-new 2026 Toyota Prado vehicles to selected party youth leaders to support election mobilisation.
In a post that was later deleted, Israel on Sunday expressed gratitude to Oluremi Tinubu, wife of President Bola Tinubu, for her continued support for the party structure under his leadership.
“Today, I presented brand new 2026 Prado to my committed selected youth leaders to aid their election mobilisation activities. I am grateful to my Mummy, H.E Mrs Oluremi Tinubu for her continuous support to the party structure under my leadership,” he wrote.
He added: “The party is supreme and that supremacy will show in our actions in this election period — we will deliver polling unit by polling unit.”
Israel did not disclose the cost of the vehicles or the source of funds used to purchase them.
Although the APC youth leader deleted the post about three hours after publishing it, screenshots and excerpts had already circulated online, prompting criticism from Nigerians on X.
Harmless, an X user, questioned the timing of the announcement amid the economic hardship facing the country.
“Yesterday in Kaduna, Tinubu was blaming the opposition for the hunger and hardship in the country. Today, Dayo Israel, APC youth leader is casually dashing out 2026 Prado SUV to his fellow youth leaders,” the user wrote.
Another X user, Prince Adeshina, questioned how the vehicles were funded, contrasting the reported purchase with shortages of medical equipment in Nigerian hospitals.
“Most hospitals in Nigeria don’t have MRI machines, yet Dayo Israel, a national youth leader of the APC, can buy seven 2026 Prados for his friends? Where did he get the money?” he wrote.
The post continued to generate reactions, with some users criticising the reported expenditure and others questioning Israel’s leadership and the party’s priorities.

On election day in Osun, while party members were exhausted from months of campaigning and anxiously awaiting results, you chose to post a skit. At the time, INEC results already showed Adeleke leading by over 25,000 votes.
That night, I called to explain how demoralising that was, especially coming from the Youth Leader. Instead of listening, you got upset and ended the call.
Look at the reactions to your latest post, because you are competing and fighting with someone. Must your personal issues come before the party and the President?
Dayo, you need friends who will tell you the truth. At a time when millions are making sacrifices and trusting that reforms will deliver results, this kind of conduct is not helpful. Do better Dayo!
Ajayi Oriyomi (@OriyomiOflagos): Some of us have known Dayo Israel since as far back as year 2000. He is smart and intelligent, but he is not the kind of brilliant individual who should be entrusted with leadership.
Dayo has never contested an election at any level. All he does is pick up a chairmanship nomination form at the party primary, lose and disappear again.
He lacks the intellectual capacity to lead and has always ridden on the back of RCCG.
