Nigerian comedian, actor and producer Ayo Makun, popularly known as AY, has apologised following disruptions at his “AY Live: Single and Not Searching” show in Cardiff on Sunday, October 25, 2026.

The event, scheduled to take place at Valegate Retail Park, reportedly left attendees waiting for hours without a performance. Some audience members described confusion and arguments at the venue, where police were also reportedly present, prompting many to leave before the show began.

In a statement shared on social media on Monday, AY said he and the other comedians had travelled to Cardiff and arrived at the venue.

“To everyone who bought tickets and came out to see us in Cardiff, I sincerely apologise for the disappointment you experienced. Your time, money and support deserve respect,” he wrote.

The comedian attributed the delay to outstanding payment commitments, explaining that most attendees had left by the time the issue was resolved and the performers arrived at the venue.

“You deserved a properly organised show and timely information. You should never have been caught in the middle of a payment dispute,” he added.

AY said he had addressed the circumstances surrounding the incident in a video, urging the public to listen to his full explanation before drawing conclusions.

He also appealed to the organisers and his UK tour management to provide clarity on refund arrangements for affected ticket holders, adding that verified updates would be communicated through his official channels.

Despite the setback, the comedian maintained that the remaining tour dates would proceed as scheduled, with performances planned for Birmingham on October 30, London on October 31 and Manchester on November 1.

“For over twenty years, your support has helped build this brand. I value that trust and remain committed to honouring it,” he said.
