Not every artist I signed will become global – Don Jazzy

Don Jazzy has clarified that joining his record label does not guarantee an artist international recognition or global success.

Speaking during a recent livestream with popular forex trader Habby Forex, Don Jazzy described the music industry as a risky business, although he said it was not as volatile as forex trading.

He explained that not every artiste signed to his record label would attain global stardom or generate huge profits for the company.

The Mavin Records boss added that an artiste’s growth after joining the label should be considered a success, even if they do not become a global star.

“The forex market is just something I do for fun. Music still takes most of my time, and my other businesses are not as volatile and risky as the forex market. But not every artist I signed will become global. Just like in trading, there is risk in the music business, too. But to us, as long as you are better today than yesterday as an artist, you are a success,” he said.

Don Jazzy has helped build the careers of several Nigerian artistes who have achieved international success, including D’Banj, Tiwa Savage, Rema and, more recently, Ayra Starr.
